The auspicious day of Vaikunta Ekadasi is observed on the eleventh day of the waxing lunar fortnight in the solar month of Margazhi - A day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is said that the door to Vishnu’s heavenly abode, Vaikunta, opens on this day. The area encircling the sanctum of the Vishnu temple is referred to as Vaikunta Vaasal. More specifically the northern entrance to the sanctum is believed to be the door to Vaikunta. The Devotees throng to gain entry into the temple, to seek salvation from Vishnu. The most auspicious of the Vishnu temples are sacred shrines extolled by the Alwars (Vaishnavite saints) known as the Divya Desams. On this trail we visit the different sacred shrines extolled by the Azhwars. These celebrated shrines are known as the Divya Desams. We travel on a journey exploring the history and literature that lies behind these magnificent structures and delve into the splendour of greater things. Set path on a spiritual adventure as we bear witness to the tangible and intangible aspects of Vaikunta Ekadasi!
