Dakshina Karnataka Yatra
Duration : 3 Days and 3 Nights
Day One :
We journey up into the glorious city of Mangalore from Bangalore via train in the morning. We reach Mangalore by the afternoon and relish a local styled lunch. We check-in to Goldfinch Hotel Mangaluru before proceeding to Dharmasthala in a private vehicle hired for our travels over the next 3 days.
Dharmasthala is the land of righteousness. This sacred land houses Lord Shiva who is worshipped as Lord Manjunatha, Ammanavaru, and the Dharma Daivas – Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy and Kanyakumari. After a divine experience at Dharamsthala, we head back to Mangalore having dinner en-route and call it a night.
Day Two :
A robust day ahead and our first stop through the winding hills is Udupi. At Udupi we visit the famous Krishna Temple. The home of Lord Krishna and Dvaita Matha, this featurette of this temple is the nine holed window – Navagraha kindi, through which one sees the Lord. Tune in to innumerable stories this sacred center has surrounding the Lord. After a beautiful darshan, and satisfying lunch, we make our way to Kollur.
On the banks of River Souparnika, we visit the temple for Devi Mookambika. She is the embodiment of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati, and the destroyer of the Asura Mookasura. The goddess is said to be in the form of a Jyotirlinga incorporating both Shiva and Sakthi. Adishankara is said to have installed the panchaloka idol of the Goddesses. Be witness to the rituals, and enjoy the darshan. We call it a day and head back to Mangalore.
Day Three :
The last day starts by heading to Sringeri- a home to many sacred sites. We visit the temple of Devi Sharadamba temple, Vidyashankara temple, and the Mutt that was installed by Adi Shankara. We receive the blessing of the Lords and delve into the town’s enigmatic spirit through the rituals of these sacred sites. We head back to Mangalore in the evening and take the train that would take us back to Bangalore the next morning.
